Basalt mini rebar
Reinforcement component for concrete structures that increases frost resistance, durability, reliability, as well as the strength of concrete structures for bending, stretching and shearing.

RedArmo BFRP rebar

Basalt fiber reinforced polymer rebar is a rod with continuous spiral ribbing, of any length, and with diameter of up to 36 mm.

It is produced from basalt reinforced composite materials and offers a combination of high strength and corrosion resistance. Tensile strength of composite rebar is 3 times higher than that of steel rebar.

Deformed basalt plastic rebar of A-III grade offers corrosion resistance at the level of good stainless steel, but its weight, in strength ratio, is 9 times lighter.

Application of basalt plastics rebar

Composite rebar is used as flexible connections of three-layer walls of buildings and structures in the civil, industrial and agricultural construction, including bearing, cladding and rigid insulation layers, and also in light and heavy concretes (foam concrete, floor panels, roof slabs, monolithic foundations) and in the road construction for asphalt concrete pavements.

The structures exposed to stray currents, and infrastructure facilities with requirements for radio transparency are another effective and demanded application field of continuous basalt fiber rebar.


RedArmo Basalt fiber

Basalt fibers are chopped filaments produced by melting natural basalt rocks. It is widely used in the civil and industrial construction as concrete and plastics reinforcement, which provides three-dimensional strengthening of the material.

The fiber is a completely ecological material, it is extremely resistant to mechanical abrasion, water and chemicals, so basalt fiber reinforced concretes are widely used for floors, grounds, paths construction.

The consumption of cement and water is reduced by 15 and 20% respectively if basalt fiber is used.

Basalt fiber surpasses steel and polypropylene fiber in strength. Compared with glass fiber, elongation of basalt fiber is lower, this aspect results in less cracking of concretes exposed to loads and/or shrink processes.

Depending on the application field, the best diameter of monofilaments, cut length, moisture and sizing agent are selected for better adhesion, uniform distribution and maximum reinforcement effect.

Basalt fiber application


Basalt fiber is extremely resistant to mechanical abrasion, so basalt fiber reinforced concretes are widely used for floors, grounds, paths in places with heavy traffic of people and transport. Basalt fiber concretes are used for the construction of earthquake resistant buildings and structures, military fortifications, explosive objects, collectors and concrete pipes for corrosive substances, and liquids with a large number of abrasive particles.

High stability of basalt fiber to aggressive media and its hygroscopic properties make it indispensable for the construction of hydraulic structures and bank protection. "Dry" fiber treated with a water incompatible sizing agent is used for the manufacture of brake pads and needle-punched mats.
